Growing up surrounded by the rustic beauty of his village, Bappy Linkon Roy weaves nostalgia and emotion into his art, reflecting the essence of time, place, and cherished memories. Roy draws inspiration from the renowned Indian artist Haren Das. Das’s evocative paintings, characterized by their vivid colours and intricate detailing, have left an indelible mark on Roy’s creative journey. Like Das, Roy seeks to infuse his work with life, inviting viewers to explore the nuances of everyday existence.
Children, with their unbridled creativity, communicate effortlessly through their art. Roy’s unique approach involves collecting samples from children’s drawings and reimagining them in his signature style. The result? A harmonious blend of innocence and sophistication that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Working primarily with acrylic colours, Roy crafts both realistic and semi-abstract compositions. His palette dances with hues inspired by the changing seasons, the golden fields, and the azure skies. Texture becomes a language of its own—a tactile invitation to explore the layers of meaning within each stroke.
Roy’s current focus lies in portraying rural life and the environment. His canvases breathe with scenes of sun-kissed paddy fields, bustling marketplaces, and children at play. Through his art, he bridges the gap between generations, inviting viewers to revisit their own childhood memories.
In his paintings, time stands still. Each stroke connects past, present, and future—a testament to the enduring power of art.
